Have you ever broken a bone?
I broke my ankle whilst in my 2nd week of Marine Corps bootcamp. But as any devil dog will attest, bootcamp is no place to stay longer than needed!
So, i refused medical treatment and my drill instructors thought i was ‘all marine’. However, after enduring a further 10 weeks of bootcamp, 4 weeks of combat traing and a further 16 weeks of job (mos) schooling my foot was f^cked.
12 confirmed brakes in my ankle joint, 4 on bones in my foot plus about 26 stress fractures on my shin. I then had to have reconstructive surgery on my ankle.
I was then medically discharged as the op didnt work well enough to see me into battle. Damn it!!
Like Dookie however, i never settled, i found myself in the darkness, yet i found my light and struggled on in this world.
No matter what we break, what we fail, we can mend, we can fix, we can win!
